Education Tax Credits/ 1098-T Information

 The Citadel supports students by providing a Federal 1098-T form to persons with qualifying education expenses during the prior calendar year.

The 1098-T form is necessary for persons who wish to take Education Tax Credits.

Notes to Remember

1098-T forms will be sent to a student's home address before January 31.

Please note that The Citadel will only report dollar amounts paid for QUALIFIED EXPENSES during the prior calendar year. 

Spring 2020         Billled in Dec 2019       Reported on 2019 1098T
Summer 2020         Billed in Apr 2020       Reported on 2020 1098T
Fall 2020         Billed in July 2020       Reported on 2020 1098T
Spring 2021         Billed in Dec 2020       Reported on 2020 1098T

 

To download your 2020 1098-T, or a replacement 1098-T form for the years 2015-2019, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Heartland ECSI website, www.heartland.ecsi.net
  2. Click on the link “To access your 1098-T form, click here.”
  3. Next search for “The Citadel” and press submit
  4. Type in your student’s First and Last Name, Social Security Number and Home Zip code, press continue
  5. The next page will populate your 1098-T, click on the + sign to view

If a student needs a replacement  copy of a 1098-T from 2011-2014, he or she should contact the Treasurers Office at trsr@citadel.edu.  Copies will be mailed.  We can not provide the information by email or fax.

 In addition, students may contact Vangent, for a copy of 2010 and prior forms.

 To protect your privacy, The Citadel can not provide 1098-T information over the phone.
